Cape May Zoo is great. Well maintained with animals well cared for. Accessible to all. Nice board walks through some of the larger animal enclosures. The end of May is a crowded time to go (read field trips). Also it's important to note that with the zoo being inland it's warmer than on the coast.
I absolutely love this place. It had been a few years since I was here and it has changed a bit, for the better of course. It was so early in the season, so not everything was viewable, but there was plenty to see still. Love the fact that it is free, but we always leave a donation to help it out. My grandsons had a blast. the only problem was they wanted to see the snow leopards, but by the time we got there, they were already gone. It was right after they called the zoo closing. But we will be back again. And again, and again.
We had not been to the zoo for a while and wanted to come and see all that was new since our last visit. Last time we visited they were doing many upgrades and it makes for an even more enjoyable experience. It is a great day for animal lovers to see them relaxing on that cloudy cool day when we arrived. Most animals were awake and interacting. I would recommend this Zoo trip to anyone in the area. I will attach a few photos of my favorites from the day.
Fort off I love this zoo! I have always enjoyed coming here for as long as I’ve lived in jersey. I still cannot believe this zoo is free. It’s incredibly clean, staff are always very nice. I have t one negative thing to say about the zoo. Many places to enjoy a picnic, the park is great for kids. I look forward to my next trip here.
My kids love this zoo. We've been here several times, although the youngest only once or twice. There has always been a nice array of animals and the park is a good walk. Not too long and not too short. There are a few rest areas inside the zoo area where you can sit and snack although we haven't used them as the kids just wanted to see the animals. There are inside and outside exhibits and a few birds wandering around freely. There is ample parking for the area and I've never had an issue getting a space. A little walk through some nice woods takes you from the parking lot to the zoo area. You can see the zipline activities that are offered for an extra fee as you take this short walk.
The zoo itself is free, but we always donate and/or get a lunch at the cafeteria.
Once the kids are done eating and looking at the animals, we take them to the next door playground areas. There are swings and assorted jungle gym type activities and one of the areas is geared towards younger kids and toddlers. There is seating for the tired adults right next to both areas.
There's also a gift shop to browse through and some bathroom areas inside and outside of the zoo proper.
Visiting the free-entry zoo was a delightful experience! The variety of animals was impressive, and the layout of the zoo made it easy to navigate. It's a fantastic place for families to spend a day together without worrying about admission fees.
Fun and friendly. Peacock lovers will rejoice at their numbers. If you love the movie “Up” and you recall what Kevin sounds like then you’ll enjoy.
The reality is that this is a wonderfully enjoyable place to spend the day. The grounds are clean and walkable. There are animals everywhere and kids will love it. We came before lunch and most animals were up and moving - especially the Lions, Giraffe, and Peacocks. Staff is friendly and approachable. Come early and you’ll find good parking. There is a nice playground just outside the entrance. When it gets busy at the playground it can become chaotic.
This is a beautiful donations based zoo with tons of animals, a huge playground area, and free parking(tons of parking areas, remember where you parked!)-
After passing by the mini working carousel, and if you can sneak by the shops and food (for now)-You'll arrive at a goat feeding area as you begin your day at the zoo, moving along-there's numerous interactive signs and tons of animal exhibits.
There are a few food options and the shop is really cute inside, with endless souvenirs. I think there is also a face painter in that same area but am not sure if that's still a thing. The kids playground area is impressive with all the different play equipment.
*It is a lot of walking and the sun does beat down on this area so I suggest being there as soon as they open. Weekends tend to be pretty chaotic, so if possible, it's probably a little less stress going on a week day. It's an amazing zoo, and with being solely donation based-deserves even more credit. #zoo #daytrip
